Somatic Movement Practices

There is so much juice to be felt and moved within the body. Intrinsic wisdom lies deeply engrained in our cells. Dancing is a powerful way to unify, harmonize and release trapped emotions or stagnant energy.
Let’s get moving!

Within these 1-on-1 or small group sessions of Somatic Movement and Intuitive Dance, we invoke the Five Elements to expand from Earth to Ether, moving our way through the awareness of emotions rising and releasing.

I use curated music and movement to navigate the natural expression of the body to communicate, listen, sweat our prayers, release energy, transmute emotions and expand into our full open-hearted expression.

While modern society leans towards focusing primarily on cultivating cognitive intelligence, our physical bodies also hold intrinsic wisdom for psychosomatic communication and nourishment.

Somatic movement offers a guided avenue so you can arrive fully into your body and allow the body to move you. It’s a sacred space through which we can enter to viscerally understand and sense from the inside out.

The benefits of intuitive movement and expressive dance are numerous.

Movements can be wide, loud and expansive. They can also be soft, “deliciously subtle” and deeply connective. The reverberating effects of embodied movement calmly ripple through the nervous system, allowing space for full decompression, and aligning the soma and the psyche in bliss.

Somatic movement can be described as “being breathed by the body” — letting go of force, trying, and attempts to control — and, instead, falling so deeply into resonance with your personal primordial intelligence and somatic sensory awareness that profound harmony is the only possible result.

This entails coming home to your own body as a vault of safety, wisdom, and deep knowing.

Dancing is for people of all ages, shapes and sizes and has many physical and mental benefits including:

  • improved condition of your heart and lungs

  • increased muscular strength, endurance, and motor fitness

  • increased aerobic fitness

  • improved muscle tone and strength

  • stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis

  • better coordination, agility, and flexibility

  • improved balance and spatial awareness

  • increased physical confidence

  • improved mental functioning

  • improved general and psychological well-being

  • greater self-confidence and self-esteem

  • better social skills.

When we dance reflectively, we are in a process of becoming more fully conscious — returning what we have forgotten of our intrinsic perfection.
