Self Regulation and Resourcing

Self-Regulation is the ability to resist impulsive reactions and instead make positive + beneficial responses within our behaviors + words under pressure of stress or triggers; these are possible because of self-awareness + constant monitoring of our energetic states, emotions, thoughts, actions.

Resourcing is knowing what can be done in order to support yourself, meet your own needs, feel into an emotion and help it to dissipate or disperse in a healthy way.

These two walk hand-in-hand: the way we respond to our environment and what we are able to create with our environment - each from a self-aware, balanced and healthy place.

The past few weeks, I got suddenly slammed for all the things all at once.

Three weekends in a row I was DJing both nights. I served Kambo 2x/week, completed my advanced Chi Nei Tsang Training, was handling full and new moon eclipse energy on an extremely chaotic island and dealt with emotional mirrors all while photo/video shooting/editing in between. I was sleeping about 4 hours a night. I felt moments of overwhelm + stress. But even when there's "too much" going on and “not enough time”, I know how to handle myself.

My regulation + resourcing?

  1. Disconnect from outside factors and possible triggers and focus on the Self.

  2. Fasting from Food + Phones.

  3. Taking breaks from people. Witnessing the reflections in the mirror from interaction/conversation.

  4. Making time to take a bath at midnight bc that’s the only moment of opportunity.

  5. Make lavender tea while images are importing.

  6. Stretch when the images are exporting.

  7. Connect with the Divine, Hoop + Dance during the next DJ's set, reenergize from Source energy, and then take an overnight trip to a new place to refresh the landscape.

    I’m still under deadline for photo/video delivery; a pressured reaction may be “I don’t have time,” a resourced regulation is “I need to get away for one night, when I return I will be revitalized + ready to go.” So here I am on the other side of all the gigs, training + lunar insanity, completely refreshed and ready to take it all on.
