Yawanawá Cultural Retreat:

A Transformational Journey with the Yawanawá Tribe in the heart of the Brazilian rainforest

Centro Awavãna, Acre, Brazil

We invite you to an experience of a lifetime where we will immerse ourselves into the spiritual traditions of the Yawanawá tribe, deep within the Amazon, where the rainforest hums with ancient wisdom, the primordial soundcurrent.

Songs of the Rainforest is more than a retreat—it is a journey of deep connection, learning, and transformation, guided by the keepers of a profound ancestral lineage.

We will live among the tribe and experience their way of life, which includes sharing stories beneath the stars, learning about medicinal plants and listening to the forest singing to us through its plants, animals and Spirits.

Safely and lovingly guided by Yawanawá Elder Hushahu, her husband Adair (Isãrua) and the Yawanawa Family we will work with Uni (Ayahuasca), Kampun (Kambo), and Rume (Rapé)—powerful medicines that cleanse, heal, and align the spirit.

We will learn and sing the Yawanawá's sacred songs, known as saitis, to re-connect to our original, true Self and unique frequency and the open the Gates to a new, expanded consciousness.

Our Guardians will lead us through sacred ceremonies so we may open ourselves to receive the Blessings of the Rainforest.

MEET HUSHAHU

In 2005 Hushahu was the first woman to enter into a spiritual study in the story of her people and of other tribes in the region, spending one year and three months in Samakẽi - a spiritual retreat isolated deep in the rainforest under strict rules.

During this time she began to discover the world of the Pajés as a woman, expressing this through her art and her voice, bringing a female voice to the traditionally masculine songs. On her return she brought a great inspiration to her people as well as equality between men and women. This transformation, along with the beauty of the songs and art she brought back, inspired many, both men and women to re-engage with their tradition.

Since then she has become an important spiritual leader to her people as well as to many around the world. The designs that she received in her visions are used in the artworks of many different tribes in Brazil as well as her own.

In May of 2024 she stopped all of her work to enter into a deeper spiritual retreat - Runua Xinã, making her the only person since the passing of her father to undertake this diet. She has been isolated in the forest since, deepening her study of the tradition in order to better help those around the world who come to her.

Hushahu brings a strong but gentle and caring presence in her work, placing herself as a mother to those in the space. She brings the wisdom of her life’s experiences, sharing the love and depth of study that she carries in her heart.

MEET ISÃRUA

Married to Hushahu, Isãrua has dedicated his life to spiritual study. He lives with Hushahu in their home in the rainforest, Centro Awavãna, where they work to keep the Yawanawá spirituality alive and bring environmental sustainability to the indigenous community.

Since May 2024 he has been living isolated deep in the rainforest with Hushahu, closely following the deep retreat of Runua Xinã that she is in, caring for her and the land where they are living.

In December he entered the Muka diet, committing to one year studying with Hushahu to deepen his understanding with great responsibility and respect for Yawanawá traditions. Isãrua and Hushahu are living their dream, immersed in the natural world dedicating a time to their spiritual growth.

Being from the western world, Isãrua is also a musician and translator , acting as a bridge to the Yawanawá study. He brings his vision of the tradition with clarity and understanding. Isãrua has studied the deeper aspects of the tradition and brings this depth with love and dedication to his work together with Hushahu.
